What Specific changes occurred in Roman society as a result of the Struggle of the Orders? The Struggle of the Orders (also known as the Conflict of the Orders) was a struggle between commoners who were very poor and the aristocrats who were very rich. This happened in the ancient Roman Republic and lasted from 494BC to 287BC. In this struggle the commoners wanted to be equal politicly with the aristocrats. The commoners challenged the aristocrats to have control over Rome. Next the richer commoners demanded a place in the government while the poorer commoners had no jobs and many of them were in dept. Eventually the commoners left Rome to look for a better place to live.
Because many of the people were leaving Rome the population was decreasing. Finally the government accepted some of the commoners into the government. Ten years later dept was banned.
